A cultural icon, a sex symbol, a rock n’ roller, a blue suede shoe wearing star- a man who needs no introduction, but, well, I am giving one anyway. The pompadour styling King of Rock n’ roll (see, there I go again) Elvis Aaron Presley. Elvis would have been 81 years old on January 8th. From the stage to the silver screen, Elvis evoked something unique, something that quite literally shaked, rattled and rolled popular culture during particularly the early part of the 1950s. We now know it as rock n’ roll. Yes, rock existed before Elvis, and was inspired and derived from blues and country music but Elvis was the frontier of it, taking it nation and then worldwide. His undeniable stage presence garnered a lot of his success and even to this day very few have been able to take it to that level. Yes, I think it has grown apparent I am a huge Elvis fan. I had the opportunity to visit Memphis, Tennessee and Graceland (photo gallery below). I stood in the very room- Sun Studio- where Elvis Presley cut his first record. His first single was “That’s Alright” in 1954, just the beginning of what would be international praise.
*** Can someone photoshop my face on to Priscilla’s? Thanks!
