How many times have you been quickly trying to type in a web address, and you end up with a typo? That’s the latest way hackers are trying to infect your computer with a virus and spread malware. They are taking popular sites, and buying the URL of a common typo. Amazonco.m, Netfli.xcom, etc.
Apparently this scam targets both PC and Macs. Other popular URLs are American Express, Auto Trader, Best Buy and more. Usually what happens is it brings you to a fake site telling you your computer needs to update Flash to see the site… a common one. But if you hit that download button, malware will be installed on your device. The .om domain is country specific to Oman, and that’s how they’re doing it.
