An iconic sign from Toronto’s past is making a return! The Sam the Record Man Sign has been in storage since 2007 when the original store at Yonge and Dundas closed down, and the property is now owned by Ryerson University. The university and the Toronto City Council have now agreed to restore the sign to its original glory at the original location. The only thing that would be better would be for them to re-open the store completely!
The original Sam The Record Man Store was a musical wonderland, with so many unique sections covering every genre of music imaginable. Stores like that are hard to come by these days thanks to the digital music revolution, but I still have great memories of that place! At least the iconic sign is going to shine in downtown Toronto once again, it should be up by the end of the summer!
