On January 27th, just under a week of presidency for Donald Trump, the executive order was signed.
What did he sign? THIS
“I’m establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America. We don’t want them here. We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country and love deeply our people.”
An order temporarily suspending immigration from reportedly Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, and Libya. The order calls for a suspension of the entire Refugee Program for 120 days.
Malala Yousafzai, in an official Facebook statement wrote:
“I am heartbroken that today President Trump is closing the door on children, mothers and fathers fleeing violence and war. I am heartbroken that America is turning its back on a proud history of welcoming refugees and immigrants — the people who helped build your country, ready to work hard in exchange for a fair chance at a new life.I am heartbroken that Syrian refugee children, who have suffered through six years of war by no fault of their own, are singled-out for discrimination.
I am heartbroken for girls like my friend Zaynab, who fled wars in three countries — Somalia, Yemen and Egypt — before she was even 17. Two years ago she received a visa to come to the United States. She learned English, graduated high school and is now in college studying to be a human rights lawyer.
Zaynab was separated from her little sister when she fled unrest in Egypt. Today her hope of being reunited with her precious sister dims.
In this time of uncertainty and unrest around the world, I ask President Trump not to turn his back on the world’s most defenseless children and families.”
Green Day, in an official Facebook statement and Billie Joe Armstrong’s statement on his personal Instagram account wrote:
“i feel like I’m in a state of shock.. The executive orders Trump is signing feels like a vendetta.. Trump is not only taking out his revenge on the people who protested him, but also the average American that just didn’t vote for him. These reckless decisions on healthcare, muslim-americans, immigration, environmental protection, freedom of speech, freedom of press, women’s right to choose what to do with their bodies, suggesting sending in the feds to Chicago .. are signs of a man that is trying to redefine what it is that keeps our common union as Americans.. This is not just his “conservative agenda.” It’s an all out assault on our civil liberties. His intention is to divide us as Americans. Maybe we don’t agree on all of these issues.. But can’t we see eye to eye on some? I have conservative/republican friends and family.. I understand their point of view even if I don’t agree with it. It’s their right. It’s their beliefs. However the progressive side is just as “American” as the other side. At what point do we all come together as “Americans”. Isn’t this about freedom and unity? I don’t think this president has a grasp on the concept of the American dream.. the dream that we come from different backgrounds to come together. Please respect each other. Please show compassion. Please don’t allow this madman to take out his revenge…. on US respect BJ”
