We’ve all done it… ok, everyone but me. You feel a dried booger up your nose, and you can’t resist getting in there with a finger and digging it out. And if you’ve ever had a young kid (or were one yourself) you know that the next step is to have yourself a little snack.
While most grownups would immediately cringe at the suggestion, research has shown that consuming your nose-nesters isn’t a bad idea; in fact, your snot contains a lot of healthy bacteria that actually protects your teeth.
Katharina Ribbeck, an assistant professor in the department of biological engineering at MIT, notes that eating your dried boogers is a great way to boost your body’s immune system, and that booger eaters tend to be healthier, happier, and likely in better tune with their bodies.
