Forget the kids; our pets are the ones who are eating us out of house and home.
According to a survey of pet owners 12% thought the lifetime cost of their pet would be $650, while a majority put the number at $6,500. The real number? Anywhere between $27,074 and $42,545, depending on the breed. That includes buying your dog, food, toys, grooming, and basic vet care. Essentially, you’re choosing Spot or Rex over a new car.
Think that a cat would be a lot less expensive? Think again: over the lifetime of your little feline, you’ll be in the hole for $21,917 to $30,942.
Consider the cost before bringing that cutie home.
