Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell died suddenly last night following a show at The Fox Theatre in Detroit. He was 52. The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately clear, but according to news reports his wife Vicky asked that he be checked on. After breaking into his room it was confirmed that Chris had passed away. His spokesman said that they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause of death. Chris’ sudden passing comes during Soundgarden’s spring tour of North America, which officially launched May 3rd in Atlanta.

KISS bassist Gene Simmons says that new music is being written for the band, but also that he sees no incentive to actually record and release it, noting, “Not too long ago I wrote a song called ‘Your Wish Is My Command’. It sounds anthemic, like something that might have come off ‘Love Gun’, but… the idea that you work your ass off and then someone with freckles on their face decides they want to download your music and file share, that’s not what I work for.”
