This is bummer news! Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been let go of their directing duties on the new Han Solo movie. The movie has already been filming since January and has only three weeks left to go of principal photography. Word is that Lucasfilm was unhappy with the more comedic and improvisational direction the film was taking, with Lord and Miller being best known for their work on comedies like 21 Jump St. and The Lego Movie.
Lucasfilm is now seeking a new director to finish the film, with veteran director Ron Howard in the mix to take over. The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke in an unnamed role. It’s due to hit theatres next May 25, 2018.
