Former AC/DC singer Brian Johnson escaped a car crash without a mark on him. He was participating in the qualifying heat at a charity racing event when his Austin A35 flipped over. Brian has been a longtime racer. He’s hosted a television program called Cars That Rock, and competed at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway to raise money for his charity Highway to Help.
Metallica gave a shout out to Van Halen when they played their hometown of Pasedena a couple of nights ago. Frontman James Hetfield led the band through an abbreviated version of Van Halen’s 1978 classic, “Runnin’ With The Devil”… and he sounded more like Van Halen singer David Lee Roth than David Lee Roth does these days… for one verse, anyways. The tribute appeared just prior to the closing number of the group’s main set, “Seek & Destroy.”
Def Leppard are streaming part two of their mini-documentary, “Step Inside: Hysteria At 30.” The documentary arrives in sync with the 30th anniversary reissues of the group’s fourth album, Hysteria on August 4th. Following part one’s look at the fallout from a 1984 car accident that saw drummer Rick Allen lose his left arm, the project turns to the band member’s frustration with length of the time they were spending in the studio with producer Mutt Lange; the album would take three years to complete.
