If you found yourself underwhelmed by yesterdays eclipse (Hamilton was at ~70% totality) then just wait until April 8, 2024. On that afternoon, Hamilton will receive a total solar eclipse that will wind its way up from Mexico, through the eastern United States and into Canada, with totality crossing parts of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.
The northern edge of totality (100% coverage of the sun) will pass just to the north of the city of Hamilton proper, north of Burlington, and just to the south of Toronto, and will last roughly 2 minutes. If that’s not enough for you, consider a trip to Mexico; parts of that country will be in totality for over 4 minutes. Make your plans now!
