It sucks that summer is over, but on the bright side, there are a TON of new rock releases to look forward to this fall, let’s take a look:
Foo Fighters – Concrete and Gold (September 15)
The fall kicks off with a bang with the 9th studio album from the Foos. This is the follow up to 2014’s “Sonic Highways” and sees the band continuing to explore more classic rock territory while still maintaining their heavy edge, which can be heard on the singles “Run” and “The Sky Is A Neighborhood”. This is poised to be one of the biggest rock records of 2017!
The Killers – Wonderful Wonderful (September 22)
I loved the Killers when they first hit the scene in 2004 with HOT FUSS, but since then I haven’t loved all their material. That being said, I love the first single from the new album, “The Man”, it’s so damn funky! It gives me hope for the new record, they also play the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on January 5, 2018.
Liam Gallagher – As You Were (October 6)
This is Liam’s first solo album after the breakup of his post-Oasis band Beady Eye, and so far the younger Gallagher brother has not disappointed. All three singles released so far from the record, “Wall of Glass”, “Chinatown” and “For What It’s Worth” have been stellar and Our Kid is well on his way to a solid solo career. His older brother Noel’s next record comes out in November, could this fall be the “Battle of the Gallaghers”?!
Beck – Colors (October 13)
Thirteen albums in and you can’t keep Beck down, the dude just keeps releasing cool songs and trying new things. If his latest single “Wow” is any indication, it looks like the new record will definitely be taking more of a pop direction.
Weezer – Pacific Daydream (October 27)
Weezer is one of those bands that is defined by their early records, but while some bands fell off after the 90’s, Weezer has continued to make awesome, catchy as hell rock music for the last 20+ years. “Pacific Daydream” is their 11th studio album and these guys just keep bringing the goods!
Stereophonics – Scream Above The Sounds (November 3)
Another veteran band on this list are Welsh rockers Stereophonics, who release their 10th studio album on November 3. These guys aren’t super well known on this side of the pond, but like Weezer, they have continued to put out awesome rock music for the last 20 years, releasing hit after hit in their native UK. If you haven’t checked these guys out before, get on it!
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Who Built The Moon? (November 24)
Noel has just announced details of his third solo album called “Who Built The Moon”? It looks like Noel is getting a little psychedelic on this record, the songs in the new teaser sound like his work with the Chemical Brothers and Oasis circa 2000. With this and his younger brother Liam’s album dropping in October, we officially have the battle of the Gallaghers! Which album will be triumphant? Who knows!
U2 – Songs of Experience (December 1)
Oh U2! This is their 13th studio album, and the follow up to 2014’s “Songs of Innocence”. The new single “Blackout” definitely has more of a heavy rock vibe than the band’s recent material, and as long as they don’t download the album onto everybody’s iPhones against their will, they should be fine!
