It was around midnight last night, when I arrived home from band practice. I knew that my wife and daughter were fast asleep. And I knew that my Dog Doug (pictured) here has recently learned the sound of the horn on my truck. He can distinguish it from other horns. How do I know this??
Well when I park in our driveway and arm the vehicle’s alarm there’s a quick blast from the horn. Like a lot of other vehicles. Only Doug KNOWS MY horn. Any one else arms their alarm near the house …. Doug is whisper quiet. MY horn sounds and Doug goes into a barking frenzy as if to say “he’s home!!!….he’s home!!!…..he’s home!!!!!”
This is fine during the day. But when you’re getting at home at midnight and everyone is asleep …. well … ya’ know.
I parked a block away in the hopes that Doug wouldn’t hear the horn. My efforts were all for nothing. He still heard the horn and yes … he woke everyone up!!!
Which is why I’m proposing Canine Earplugs. That’s right. For those late night horn blasts. Those knocks at the door. And for some dogs those petrifying thunderstorms (which freak Doug out too.)
What do you think? I mean for all of those stupid pet inventions out there like these ones why are no freakin’ ear plugs???? It would do wonders for my marriage!!!
