Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer and Radiohead have unveiled a new collaboration called “Ocean (Bloom)”. It reinterprets Radiohead’s song “Bloom” as a soaring, cinematic soundtrack to the BBC’s Blue Planet II series. Thom Yorke recorded new vocals for the song, and was accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra. The BBC released a trailer featuring “Ocean (Bloom)” and iconic voiceover work by David Attenborough. U2 have released a video for “You’re The Best Thing About Me”, the lead single from their forthcoming album, Songs Of Experience. The clip features the band in various locations around New York City, where they played their first U.S. club gig in December of 1980. Due December 1, the companion release to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence will be available on CD, vinyl and digital download. U2 recently wrapped up the North American leg of their 30th anniversary tour of The Joshua Tree.
Ever since Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan reunited last year with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and guitarist James Iha, there has been talk of a possible reunion of the full, original Smashing Pumpkins lineup, which would include bass player D’arcy Wretzky. Billy isn’t opposed to the idea, but he not making any promises, noting that “If it’s there, great. If it’s not, cool.” Billy’s new solo album, Ogilala, which will hit stores October 13.
When Original KISS bandmates Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley recently shared the stage for the first time in 16 years at a benefit concert, it once again ramped up speculation that Ace could reunite with the group. Well, you can put that speculation to rest; when asked about the possibility Gene said, “That’s not gonna happen. Ace has been in and out of the band three different times. That’s enough.” Gene’s comments echo those of singer Paul Stanley, who has said that he has no interest in a reunion with Ace.
