U2 have announced details for a December 1st release of their new album, Songs Of Experience, as well as dates for a spring 2018 arena tour of North America. The companion to 2014’s Songs Of Innocence was completed earlier this year with a series of producers following recording sessions in Dublin, New York and Los Angeles.
We’ve already heard three tracks from the new album”The Little Things That Give You Away”, “The Blackout”, and “You’re The Best Thing About Me.” So far, U2 have announced 15 shows for the tour; the only Canadian date announced is in Montreal at the Bell Centre on June 5th. Ticket presales start November 14th, with the general on-sale date being November 20th.
We may soon know the name of the new singer for Stone Temple Pilots. The band has been busy in their search to replace late frontman Scott Weiland and his follow-on, Chester Bennington. The band will play a special, invitation-only show November 14th at the famed venue The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Guitarist Dean DeLeo spoke about the search, noting that it has been thorough: they had 15,000 submissions for the position that the band personally went through.
Black Sabbath guitarist Toni Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma five years ago, but recovery has been an ongoing battle. In 2016 he announced his illness had gone into remission, though subsequent procedures have treated non-cancerous lumps in his throat. Tony also says he remains on the defensive with cancer, noting that at some point it’s likely to return. Nevertheless, he’s trying to balance taking care of himself by meeting with his oncologist and getting enough sleep and eating well, with living life to the fullest.
