Radiohead have issued a statement regarding the death of drum tech Scott Johnson, who was killed when the stage collapsed before a show at Toronto’s Downsview Park in June of 2012, saying, “We urge the Canadian authorities to look more closely into their treatment of the Downsview Park Stage Collapse and indeed all workplace deaths to ensure that accidents such as this can be prevented in the future.”
Earlier this year, a judge decided to stay the pending charges because bringing the parties to trial had taken too long, violating defendants’ rights to a speedy trial.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi recently spoke about his current health status, four years after he was diagnosed with lymphoma, saying, “I seem to be alright for the moment. It’s still in remission. I continue to have my regular checkup every six weeks, and it’s a bit easier for me now that I’m not touring.” Tony says that his doctors were concerned with all of the flying that he was doing during the band’s last world tour.
U2 singer Bono appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and performed a special duet with Coldplay’s Chris Martin in support of Project (RED), the AIDS relief charity founded by Bono. The pair sang “One For My Baby,” a song made popular by Frank Sinatra. The stage was set to look like a bar, and Oscar-winner Sean Penn served as “bartender.”
