2/3 - 2/11 Songs For A New World

Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown
Directed by Ryan Miller
February 3rd-11th 2012

Transported from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, audiences meet a startling array of characters, ranging from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto, to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. These are the stories and characters of today, the songs for a new world.

The composer who brought us The Last Five Years and Parade brings us some of the best songs of contemporary musical theatre.

“It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” -- composer Jason Robert Brown

Every dollar you raise helps matched kids in this community with a mentor.  Research shows that children who have been mentored have higher self-esteem and are more likely to stay in school – empowering them to succeed, give back and realize their true potential.

4/20 - 5/5 Hairspray

Music by Marc Shaiman
Lyrics by Scott Wittman
and Marc Shaiman
Book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan
April 20th - May 5th 2012

Hairspray delights audiences by sweeping them away to 1960's Baltimore, where the 50's are out -- and change is in the air. Loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local TV dance program, "The Corny Collins Show." Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program's reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love (singing and dancing all the while, of course!) without mussing her hair?

Winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical
