A person is in custody after police blocked off a section of the downtown core last night.

It started with an emergency call to an address on James near Picton about 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

A person suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.  

Several hours later, police were called back to the area of MacNab and Mulberry Streets and for a while police blocked Cannon Street from James and over to MacNab.  

One person was taken into custody and is facing a number of charges including aggravated assualt, and discharging a firearm.  

His name has not yet been released.
