Hamilton is squaring off again against the Ministry of Environment over the old Taro Landfill. It's now run by Newalta Corp.
The M-O-E has pulled the on-site inspector that is suppose to protect the city against the dumping of toxins. That happened in the late 1990's when cyanide sludge was secreted into the site from the U-S.
Stoney Creek Councillor Brad Clark says the on-site inspector is mandatory because of the development in the area. He says people need to know their homes and businesses are safe.
Clark says the next step is for a city resolution demanding the ministry re-instate the inspector immediately.
