Mike and I bought an 'Easy Assembly' trampoline over the weekend as a surprise for Jack and what was most surprising was how mean we (mostly me, okay I admit it) can become when doing something like that with your life partner. It was Ugly.
I believe at one point someone's intelliegence and ability to read was questioned.
We're going to be discussing this more on the show tomorrow. Why does this happen? Why do two normally happy and in-love people go at it each other and turn plain mean when intructions and allen keys are involved?
Tell us your story. Is there something you just won't do with your husband/wife? Has there ever been one particular incident that is infamous in your family? Ben's parents can't put up wallpaper together. My brother isn't allowed to go near Ikea ...

Happy Stepfathers Day!

Big debate on the show today: Ben says stepparents need their own day separate from Fathers Day / Mothers Day. Shawna thinks they should be celebrated on the same day. Kerry sees both sides as long as the stepparent gets the recognition he/she deserves.
Here's what you had to say:

And what started out as a simple project ended up taking most of the day (and came in over double budget...) Now, I don't mean for that to sound nasty or naggy but may I ask why men always ALWAYS underestimate the time, energy and money that goes into these 'simple' projects?
It's like the old show Tool Time, when Tim used to get that glint in his eye. And next thing you know the dishwasher is in the middle of the kitchen with wires everywhere. I'm lucky in that Mike always gets the project done but it usually involves a lot of sweat, swearing and me and Jack running for cover!
So, men, I ask you. Why is this the case?? And are women guilty of this in another way?

Greensville's First Win

Okay so kill me, I'm about to brag about my kid's t-ball again. God, I'm turning into THAT mom and I can't apologize enough. BUT...allow me to brag for just one second about Greensville's big win last night against Sheffield. After struggling against St. George and losing by only two runs on two occasions, Greensville captured their first win last night. And it was awesome!
But, perhaps even bigger than that was the fact that my kid did two things that put a huge smile on my face:
1. He batted LEFT (yes!)
2. He played an inning as catcher (my old position...see pic)
When I saw them putting the knee pads on, I jumped out of my seat camera in hand. How narcissistic is that?? We are all guilty of it aren't we?!
Do you have a moment like that? Where you saw your kid following in your footsteps ...

Bucket List Help

Ben and Kerry have pretty cool bucket lists. Sean Hammond, the winner of our Stones Hunt this morning had seeing the Rolling Stones on his bucket list and can now check it off. But, me, I'm worried my bucket list is too short and, worse, too boring...
I have one place I want to go on vacation: those huts that sit on the ocean (I think they're in Indonesia). I wouldn't mind learning how to cook one day (especially something with dough...dough freaks me out with that dry active yeast business). And, well, that about covers it. Seriously. I can't think of anything to put on there.
Help me!
For those of you with long, juicy bucket lists, help me with mine. Send your suggestions to shawna@y108.ca Hey! I now have a new bucket list item for my bucket list: to write a bucket list.

Seinfeld

I finally got to see Seinfeld live last night, when he returned to the Hammer. Remember that weird winter storm back on November 30th? Well me and my hubby were caught on the roads trying to get to Hamilton Place to see Jerry. So when he decided to come back in May to make good on those tickets, I was shocked and thrilled. After all, this was a bday gift to Mike and I hadn't thought of a backup plan.
My expectations were moderate. I loved the show Seinfeld but hadn't really paid much attention to each of their solo careers post-Seinfeld (although I have recently watched Veep and love it!) Well..the show was AMAZING!!! Jerry Seinfeld is a very funny man and it was worth the pretty steep ticket price.
Has there been a show or sporting event, or maybe a trip where you had lowered expectations only to ...

Weird Jobs

Hot Dog Vendors can make up to $100,000 a year. So can Personal Shoppers!
Ice Cream Testers make an average of $56,000 a year

Let me know which one appeals to you the most. Personally, I think making six figures selling hot dogs would be awesome! I told Kerry it's the perfect job for him, but Ben reminded me that inventory control could pose a problem...
Enjoy the rest of your day (hopefully not getting paid unusually poorly for a good job! Which apears to be the good ol' buzz cut.
Jack has had long hair forever, but he proudly announced when he came home last Friday that he wanted his 'head shaved' for summer. I just nodded, "that's nice, dear". Thinking nothing of it. Then Saturday morning, he said it again. "I want my hair like Austin and Jaiden, Mommy". His face was very serious and I knew I couldn't just dismiss it. So off we went to First Choice downtown.
We sat down and I showed him a book with different haircut. What about this Jack? No. What about this? No. This one? No. None of the cute styles would do. Jack only wanted his head shaved.
Mike just put his hand on my leg (a bit firmly) and reminded me of my own parenting ...

Summer Holidays

I am employing my genius holiday strategy again this year, but it always raises a few eyebrows.
Here's what I do: Instead of taking a week off, I'm taking five Mondays off. FIVE LONG WEEKENDS! I don't have the money to go anywhere and if I blow my load in one shot then I'll be bummed the other weeks of the summer. This way, for FIVE fridays I know I'm heading into a long weeknd AND FIVE short weeks to boot!
Is this genius or what??
I know someone else doing this but they picked Fridays off instead of Mondays. What do you think makes for a better long weekend, a Friday off or a Monay off?
Whatever the case, have a good weekend!!!!

Alone Time

Ben is alone for the first time since he can remember and he is excited about it. He has a long list of stuff to do, but Shawna is convinced he won't do any of the items on it. She knows from experience. When her son is with his dad, she does nothing. Or, as Kitchener Greg said today 'takes doing nothing to a whole 'nother level'!!
So we asked you and here's what you said:

Joe ArrizzaListen to music.....LOUD!!!!

James Murphyfishing fishing fishing... 'nuff said

Jaime MichelleSleep is for the weak! Joking, I would sleep for sure!

Randy GilbertLooking for my kids because I must've left them somewhere. Free time... what's that?

Daniel Peter ChampouxPlaying videogames and acting like a bachelor again!

What about you? What are the top three things on your list??
