#eatAbeet for Food4Kids Hamilton

The Hamilton Professional Fire Fighter’s Association (HPFFA), Local 288 has long been a supporter of Food4Kids Hamilton.  Since 2015, the HPFFA has hosted a Charity Hockey Tournament (for first responders) benefiting Food4Kids Hamilton.   With the help of local community and corporate supporters, the HPFFA Charity has been able to raise $100,000 for Food4Kids during this time (with $50,000 of the funds coming from community friend and title sponsor of the tournament, Tandia Financial Credit Union).

Unfortunately, the HPFFA Charity had to cancel this fundraiser in 2020 and now again in 2021 due to COVID-19.  In an effort to fill the fundraising void, and starting on February 12, the HPFFA is spearheading a social media challenge for Food4Kids Hamilton called #eatAbeet.  HPFFA members will be challenging Hamiltonians to eat a beet (raw, cooked, pickled, canned, juiced…it doesn’t matter), post a video or photo to social media, donate $25 (or whatever you can) to Food4Kids Hamilton and challenge other people in the community.  Donations can be made to www.food4kidshamilton.ca

The HPFFA Charity will be starting this fundraiser with a $5,000 donation, raised through the payroll contribution program by HPFFA members.  Our good friends at Tandia are sponsoring this challenge and will be matching that amount with a $5,000 donation as well!

Participants will be encouraged to use the #eatAbeet hashtag and linking with social media accounts for the HPFFA, Food4Kids Hamilton and Tandia Financial Credit Union.
